Wednesday, the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, discussed security challenges and the situation in the coastal region with French Ambassador Mustafa Mihraj.
The French Embassy, in a post on its official Facebook page, stated that discussions between Marshal Haftar and Mihraj touched upon breaking the political deadlock and restoring trust between Libyan parties.
During the meeting at his headquarters in Benghazi, Marshal Haftar praised the “Libyan-French” relations, emphasizing the importance of their development and the exploration of new avenues to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Mihraj expressed France’s keenness to enhance relations between the two sides for the benefit of mutual interests.
The meeting emphasized the importance of making all efforts to push forward the political process in preparation for elections in coordination with the United Nations mission in Libya.
