Engineers from the Korean company Daewoo Engineering and Construction have commenced their assessment visit to designated work sites within Benghazi Medical Centre, also known as the “1200 hospital,” according to a recent report from Benghazi Municipality.
The visit is part of the implementation of the management plan set forth by the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund for the second phase of development in Greater Benghazi. Under the guidance of Belgassem Khalifa Haftar, Director General of the Fund, this initiative aims to revamp critical infrastructure within the city.
During the visit, engineers were briefed, by Fathia Al-Oraibi, Director BMC, regarding the current condition of the hospital and the necessary steps required to develop a comprehensive plan for its radical maintenance. This plan is to adhere to international standards endorsed by the Fund.
The radical maintenance program is anticipated to address longstanding infrastructure issues within the Benghazi Medical Centre, ensuring it meets modern healthcare standards. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare services in Benghazi and reflects ongoing commitments to development and reconstruction in Libya.
