BENGHAZI, Oct. 10 Spanish side Atlético Madrid clinched the title of the inaugural “Reconstruction Cup” after defeating Italian club Inter Milan 4-2 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time of the friendly match held Friday evening at the Benghazi International Stadium.
Atlético Madrid took the lead in the first half of the match, with Carlos Domínguez scoring the opening goal with a shot from inside the box. The Spanish team showed relative dominance during the first half, which ended with them ahead by a single goal.
The two teams proceeded directly to a penalty shootout following the draw, where the Spanish side secured the victory with a 4-2 scoreline, claiming the first title of this friendly cup organized as part of the city’s reconstruction efforts.
