The Attorney General initiated a criminal case against them for orchestrating these operations, which involved crossing the Libyan border through an organization connected to other networks that smuggle migrants across both land and sea.
According to an announcement on its official page, the Tripoli Criminal Court convicted the defendants. The first person received a ten-year prison sentence, while the second and third individuals were each sentenced to five years.
Additionally, the court confiscated the transportation used for these illegal activities.
In a separate incident, the Special Tasks Department of the Government of National Unity’s Ministry of Interior thwarted an illegal immigration attempt near Zureig Beach, located west of Misrata.
The department’s Director informed the Libyan News Agency that the Marine Tasks Unit arrested 49 migrants from Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and Sudan aboard a boat three kilometers from the shore.
