Published:

On Thursday, at the Martyrs of February Stadium, Libya secured a 2-1 victory over Mauritius in their Group D clash, placing them at the summit of the group standings with seven points.

The home team surged ahead in the 20th minute thanks to Faisal Al Abdri’s goal, but their advantage was short-lived as Mauritius leveled the score ten minutes later, courtesy of Kevin Bru. However, just before halftime, Libya regained the lead when Ahmed Ekrawa scored in the 40th minute.

Despite Mauritius’ determined efforts, Libya stood strong in the second half, showcasing their defensive prowess and ensuring they clinched all three points from this crucial match.

With this 2-1 triumph, Libya has surpassed group leaders Cameroon and Cape Verde, who are set to face off in Yaounde on Saturday. This victory puts Libya in a position of considerable influence over their own fate in the World Cup qualification race.
